In 2017 I went LIVE on Facebook for the first time. I had 1200 followers (MAX). I was sitting in a hotel room the night before, and created an event, with the title, "F*ck the trends". That next morning, I had 2.2K people watching me LIVE, and 30K watched that video within 24 hours. That rant would go on to become a 1-Hour a week Facebook LIVE talk show, inspiring others to launch their shows, and would be watch over 3.2 Million times in 2018.

I regularly guest on 3-5 podcasts each week, talking on a range of topics.

So, why should you be guesting on other people's podcasts? And how do you make the most of your podcast moments...

In today's digital age, building a strong personal brand and establishing subject matter authority is crucial to success in any industry. One effective way to achieve this is by guesting on podcasts. Podcast guesting allows you to showcase your knowledge, expertise, and personality to a new audience while leveraging the reach and credibility of the podcast host.

In this blog, we'll explore the importance of podcast guesting and how it can help you grow your business and establish yourself as an authority in your field.

  1. Reach a new audience - Podcasts have exploded in popularity over the past decade, with millions of people tuning in to their favorite shows every day. By guesting on a podcast, you have the opportunity to reach a new audience who may not have been familiar with your brand or work before. This can lead to new followers, customers, and business opportunities. Plus, because podcasts are often highly targeted and niche-focused, you can be sure that the audience is interested in your area of expertise.

  2. Establish credibility - Being a guest on a podcast is a great way to establish credibility in your field. By demonstrating your knowledge and expertise to the host and their audience, you can position yourself as a thought leader and establish subject matter authority. This can lead to increased opportunities for speaking engagements, consulting work, and other business opportunities.

  3. Build relationships with podcast hosts - Podcast guesting is also a great way to build relationships with podcast hosts. By providing value to their audience, you can create a relationship with the host and potentially collaborate on future projects or episodes. Additionally, if you establish a good rapport with the host, they may invite you back on the show or recommend you to other podcasters in their network.

  4. Leverage other people's audiences - One of the biggest benefits of podcast guesting is the ability to leverage other people's audiences. By appearing on a podcast with an established following, you can reach a larger audience than you would on your own. This can lead to increased visibility for your brand and potential new customers or clients. Additionally, because podcast listeners are often highly engaged, you may see a higher conversion rate from podcast appearances than other marketing tactics.

  5. Improve your communication skills - Finally, podcast guesting can help you improve your communication skills. By speaking about your area of expertise in a conversational and engaging manner, you can hone your ability to communicate complex ideas to a broad audience. This can help you in all areas of your business, from pitching to investors to communicating with your team.

In conclusion, podcast guesting is a powerful tool for building your personal brand, establishing subject matter authority, and growing your business. By reaching a new audience, establishing credibility, building relationships with podcast hosts, leveraging other people's audiences, and improving your communication skills, you can set yourself up for success in any industry. So, start reaching out to podcast hosts and booking those appearances – your business will thank you for it!

5 tips for getting book on more podcasts Getting booked on podcasts is an excellent way to increase your reach and build your personal brand. However, with so many podcasts out there, it can be challenging to know where to start. In this blog, we'll discuss five tips for getting booked on more podcasts.

  1. Research and target relevant podcasts - The first step in getting booked on more podcasts is to research and target relevant shows. Look for podcasts that cover topics related to your book's theme or your area of expertise. You can use podcast directories like Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and Google Podcasts to search for shows, or you can use podcast outreach services like Podmatch or PodcastGuests to find hosts looking for guests.

  2. Personalize your pitch - Once you've identified podcasts that you want to appear on, it's essential to personalize your pitch. Avoid sending generic pitches and instead take the time to research each show and host. Mention specific episodes that you enjoyed or topics that you think would be a good fit for their audience. Personalizing your pitch shows that you've done your homework and are genuinely interested in appearing on their show.

  3. Provide value - When you're a guest on a podcast, it's essential to provide value to the audience. Share your expertise, tell engaging stories, and provide actionable tips and advice. By providing value to the audience, you increase your chances of being invited back on the show and being recommended to other podcast hosts.

  4. Be prepared - Before you appear on a podcast, make sure you're prepared. Research the host's interview style and prepare talking points and anecdotes that are relevant to the show's theme. Make sure you have a reliable internet connection, a good microphone, and a quiet space to record. Being prepared ensures that you're able to give your best performance and make the most of your appearance on the podcast.

  5. Follow up - After your appearance on a podcast, it's essential to follow up with the host. Send a thank you email or message, share the episode on your social media platforms, and offer to promote the show to your audience. Following up shows that you're invested in the host's success and increases the likelihood of being invited back on the show.

In conclusion, getting booked on more podcasts requires research, personalization, and preparation. By targeting relevant shows, personalizing your pitch, providing value, being prepared, and following up, you can increase your chances of appearing on more podcasts and building your personal brand. Remember to stay persistent, and don't be discouraged if you don't hear back from hosts right away. With time and effort, you'll start booking more podcast appearances and increasing your reach.

3 tips for effectively delivering your brand message while being a guest on a podcast Being a guest on a podcast is a fantastic opportunity to deliver your brand message to a new audience. However, it's important to do it effectively to ensure that you make a lasting impression. Here are three tips for delivering your brand message effectively while being a guest on a podcast.

  1. Know your key message points - Before appearing on a podcast, it's important to know your key message points. These are the essential messages that you want to convey to the audience about your brand, product, or service. It's important to identify these key message points ahead of time and to weave them into your conversation naturally. Keep your key message points concise and memorable, so they stick with the audience after the show is over.

  2. Be authentic and engaging - One of the most effective ways to deliver your brand message is to be authentic and engaging. People respond well to genuine personalities and authentic stories. Be yourself and share personal anecdotes or stories that are relevant to your brand message. Make sure you're engaging with the host and the audience and ask questions or provide insights that encourage conversation.

  3. Use soundbites and memorable phrases - Finally, using soundbites and memorable phrases can be an effective way to deliver your brand message. Soundbites are short, concise phrases that summarize your key message points. They are easy to remember and share, which can help your brand message spread quickly. Memorable phrases or stories can also help to create an emotional connection with the audience, which is essential for building brand awareness and loyalty.

In conclusion, delivering your brand message effectively while being a guest on a podcast requires preparation, authenticity, and engagement. Know your key message points, be yourself, and use soundbites and memorable phrases to make a lasting impression. By following these tips, you can effectively deliver your brand message and make the most of your podcast appearance.
