Thank you for taking the time to sit with us and share your story. Can you share a little bit about you and your company?

I'd be happy to! I started True Balance Pain Relief Clinic in 2010, when I was 20. Which was crazy. I've always been an entrepreneur at heart, and maybe even a little bit too ambitious for my own good! My mom had always brought me with her when she received massage, and sometimes I was lucky enough to receive massage myself, I've been receiving massage since I was 8 years old, and I think that has really influenced my perception of massage and body work as an integral part of anybody's healthy lifestyle. Now, 13 years later, I've got two phenomenal massage therapists working under me, and I'm looking to expand my clinic even farther. It's really exciting being in an industry that is constantly changing and growing, and to be a part of that action is really fun!

A question so many people are interested in, is how you got started. Can you share a little bit about what you were doing before this, and what that moment was like for you when you decided to start this new journey?

So I've been practicing massage therapy professionally my entire adult life. I've never really had any other careers, and besides that, only weird odd jobs, to make ends meet! My passion has always been in massage therapy, and now, I am enjoying managing the clinic, and expanding how we help people. I knew I wanted to become a massage therapist when I was in my junior year of high school, and as an advertisement for a massage school on TV, and I felt this visceral pole towards that. It was undeniable, and incredibly strong.

Let's take a little bit of a detour, and rewind the clock a little bit. What did you want to be as a kid? And how did that influence the person you are today?

Believe it or not, as a little kid, I wanted to be a police officer. There's no way this has influenced my career! My mom was a firefighter and emergency medical technician, and I think I get a lot of my helper energy from her. She's always been a powerful inspiration for me to help people in the best ways that I can.

Did you have a person, or brand, that was influencial in your early formation of business, or career?

I don't particularly have a person or brand that was influential in the early formation of my business and career, I have always felt like a bit of a loan ranger, which has both served me really well, and provided tons of challenges as I've gone through this journey of entrepreneurship. I feel well equipped to take on challenges, and take a healthier approach to competition, and my passion always shines through. I think people see that when I talk about massage therapy, and how I run my business. But I've definitely felt like I've had to carve out my own reputation, and make a name for myself in the best way that I know how. Which is, frankly, by myself.

Now, I have found that with successful people, there is always someone pivotal as either a mentor, parent, teacher, or someone that you look to for advise, that helped set you on this path. Could you share who that person was? And what impact that had on the person you are today?

My Mom has always been a powerful influence for me, and her balance of grit and heart have been really inspiring for me.

What was one take away that you learned from that person? And how did it translate into your business today?

I think my favorite lesson, amongst so many, from my mom that I take with me everyday, is that it's easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission. And that taking action is the best way to find out if something is right for you.

When we work with businesses, we focus a lot on their "Why?". What is your "Why"? What is the driver behind your company, and why you and your team wake up each day and give it your all?

I think my big why with True Balance pain relief Clinic, is having such a powerful impact on people's everyday lives. It brings me close to tears, thinking about the impact we've had on our community, and thinking of particularly challenging client cases, where they are in debilitating pain when they come into the clinic, and when they leave, they are breathing well, they're able to do things in their lives they've never been able to do in years, and they are just plain happier in everyday life. There's nothing that comes close to that as far as satisfaction. That's why I wake up every day.

Let's dive deeper into your products and services. You already gave an overview, but how do your products or services help your customers? And what makes them different from your competitors?

So, we are unique and that we only offer pain relief. It's massage therapy, but it's so much more than that. We offer cupping therapy, we offer gua sha therapy, kinesio taping, posture correction, hot stones, so much! It's all inclusive too, we are super committed to getting clients from where they are to where they want to go, so it doesn't really matter how we get there, just that we do! I want everybody walking out of this clinic feeling like they are on cloud 9, and for it to last! We're committed to getting clients results, so we are mega nerds about learning different ways to do that. We incorporate as much as we possibly can every time, and we track progress, so clients can see exactly from point A to point B, the differences they are experiencing.

Let's unpack that even further. Let's pick one aspect of your business. What makes it so unique? And how does it change you or your customer's experience?

One aspect of True Balance Pain Relief Clinic that is very unique is the education factor. We are constantly learning as a team, and we are always helping clients to learn more about their bodies, their pain patterns, and the root causes of the pain itself. This allows clients to take some independence over their healing process, and to learn more about what they are experiencing in their body. Pain can be one hell of an experience, and it can leave people feeling hopeless, and helpless, and at a total loss for what to do. Our mission includes educating clients about exactly what they need to do on an everyday level, to feel so much better, for the rest of their lives! I don't see a lot of people doing that. Everything we know, our clients will know, if we know that it's helpful ( laugh )

Let's dive into your customer's journey a little bit. Can you share with us, how do your customers discover you and your brand? What are their next steps? And what is the experience you would like to see your customers go on, when working with you and your brand?

So most of our clients find us online, they see that we work with clients and pain, and that's all that we do. I think that's a really compelling approach to take, and the people who need us know we are the right direction to go. I want potential clients to know that they are in the hands of extremely compassionate, educated, and capable massage therapists, no matter who they see. Everybody on our team has their own unique gifts, and their own ability to help plans get to where they want to go. I want everything on my marketing material, and the ways that clients find us, to communicate that they can trust us.

Let's rave about your customers for a minute. Can you share a story about one of your clients or customers, that either touched your heart, or made an impact with you and your team?

A lot of our clients have been coming in for the entirety of the business's existence, 13 years! People stick with us for a really long time. I remember one particular case where one of my clients was experiencing debilitating headaches, and they ended up cutting their work schedule in half, they weren't able to enjoy as much time with their kids, and they could basically expect to be in bed, in the dark by noon, everyday. Just because of the pain. This person found My clinic through a friend, and we started doing some really specific cupping therapy, as well as gua sha and trigger point therapy. Within three sessions, this client was able to go back to living life as normal, which included, not only getting back to their job, but starting a new career as their own boss. It was pretty powerful to watch that transformation.

Everyone likes an inside scoop. What detail or secret about either you, or your company, is something most people might not know?

My close friends know this, but I would bet not a lot of my clients do. I used to be a professional circus performer, doing fire performance mostly. This sense of flow has actually influenced how I Do massage for my clients. I can bring myself into a flow state pretty quickly because of all my experience practicing circus arts.

Final thoughts. What feeling or benefits would you like your customers or clients to take away when working with you and your team?

I want all clients, potential, or returning clients to know that they can trust us with their bodies, with their stress, and with their pain. We are compassionate people, and we understand that pain can make us into somebody that were not at our core. And this can be a painful, and intense experience, and when they come into the clinic, they can trust us with that experience. They can trust us to help them get to where they want to go. It can be really scary to be in pain and not know where to turn. But we are here.
