Thank you for taking the time to sit with us and share your story. Can you share a little bit about you and your company?
A few years ago, I noticed that clients who hired my firm had some things in common. So I decided to help them with a way to design for themselves. I have a program called The Homeowner's Guide to Beautiful Rooms. A self-paced course and coaching program for homeowners who like the idea of designing ad decorating their own homes.
A question so many people are interested in, is how you got started. Can you share a little bit about what you were doing before this, and what that moment was like for you when you decided to start this new journey?
I started to realize there are common questions people ask when it comes to design and decorating,. So I've boiled down my system I've used in my firm into bite-sized lessons that anyone can learn and that are key to a successful room.
Let's take a little bit of a detour, and rewind the clock a little bit. What did you want to be as a kid? And how did that influence the person you are today?
Ever since I was a kid, I would build doll houses from cardboard boxes and decorate them with fabric and wall covering scraps. They were often two story and fit my small doll furniture my grandmother had given me. I could spend hours on end doing this.
Have you fully let go of that childhood dream? And where do you see yourself going in the next ten years?
That dream became clear when I watched my mother's designer transform our home. So as a young woman, I built my own firm and ran it for over two decades until making the change to teaching homeowners to do it for themselves.
What was one take away that you learned from that person? And how did it translate into your business today?
That would be the designer who worked on our family's home. It was magical. She really "got" us.
What was one take away that you learned from that person? And how did it translate into your business today?
I learned that having a home that is comfortable and that reflects the personality of those who live there is critical to happiness. Home is where we can relax and recharge from a busy day. And to reconnect with those we love.
When we work with businesses, we focus a lot on their "Why?". What is your "Why"? What is the driver behind your company, and why you and your team wake up each day and give it your all?
I love working in interior design and get a real kick out of helping others get the home they are dreaming of. When I see the lightbulb of understanding go on in my client's eyes, it is the absolute best!
Let's dive deeper into your products and services. You already gave an overview, but how do your products or services help your customers? And what makes them different from your competitors?
With the help of my coaching, my clients stay motivated to complete their room plans. They also receive encouragement and community from the others in our small group.
Let's unpack that even further. Let's pick one aspect of your business. What makes it so unique? And how does it change you or your customer's experience?
Learning along side a professional designer (me) is key. My clients are sort of "borrowing my confidence" until they begin to understand the elements of design. After practicing what they learn, it becomes firmly set in their minds.
Let's dive into your customer's journey a little bit. Can you share with us, how do your customers discover you and your brand? What are their next steps? And what is the experience you would like to see your customers go on, when working with you and your brand?
My clients typically find me on social media or through my website.
Let's rave about your customers for a minute. Can you share a story about one of your clients or customers, that either touched your heart, or made an impact with you and your team?
Yes! Nettie has been a client of mine for several months now. She would second guess her decisions for her home's redesigns and often would give up half-way through. After learning with my, she now has the confidence to design every room in her home and is doing so at rapid speed.
Everyone likes an inside scoop. What detail or secret about either you, or your company, is something most people might not know?
I started out just like my clients. Years ago, I would devour the design shows and shelter magazines but had no idea what to do with the information. I made a ton of mistakes along the way and wasted lots of money. Eventually, I went to design school and have been helping others to learn what I now know are the secret steps to a successful room design.
Final thoughts. What feeling or benefits would you like your customers or clients to take away when working with you and your team?
I am very patient and diplomatic and this seems to allow my clients to be open and honest with my group as they work through the process of creating their own room designs. It takes practice and a little knowledge and anyone that wants to become their own "designer" can do so.
Last question. How can people find out more about you and your company?
